How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Session: A Complete Guide
Booking a boudoir is an exciting and empowering experience. If you are feeling a little nervous, you are definitely not alone! A majority of women feel this exact way at first. Preparing ahead of time will help you feel confident and relaxed in front of the camera. Here is everything you need to know to have fun, be relaxed, and get the most out of your boudoir session!
Choosing Outfits That Make You Feel Amazing!
Your boudoir session should be all about you. Make sure you choose to wear something that makes you feel confident, empowered, and beautiful.
Some great options for you:
- Lace lingerie sets
- Satin lingerie sets
- A cozy oversized sweater or shirt for a soft and intimate vibe or aesthetic
- A classic black bodysuit or white if you're a bride to be!
- Your significant other's button-down shirt or another clothing of his/hers
- High-waisted underwear and bralette (can add a pair of baggy jeans here) for a chic and relaxed more casual look
Bringing a few different options so we can mix things up and see what makes you feel best! Or I always tell my clients to send pics to me ahead of time if you need help deciding or if you're just excited and I'll share that excitement with you!
Pamper Yourself Before!
I'm big on self care and self love! Taking a little time to yourself for some self care before your boudoir session can make a huge difference in how you feel.. your confidence, mood, and energy.
- Stay hydrated and moisturize! This will help with a natural glow and keep your skin looking plump and clear!
- Get a fresh manicure and/or pedicure or keep your nails clean and shaped!
- Consider getting your hair done!
- I offer two packages that include professional makeup. It truly makes a difference for my clients and they always seem to feel not only more confident but more relaxed because we are laughing and chatting the entire time before your session.
- Avoid tanning or trying new skincare and treatments right before your session! These could end up in a reaction and it will most likely add unnecessary stress.
Plan Your Accessories!
I always tell my clients to bring anything that makes sense to their session and makes their photos more personal.
These could look like simple jewelry they love or was gifted to them by their person, thigh-high stockings, a robe, their wedding veil (although, I offer one too), anything you can think of! I have had clients bring martini's because that is their thing with their husband and another who brought handcuffs.
Relax &Trust the Process
Feeling nervous before your session is totally normal. I do everything I can to help you feel relaxed and comfortable! Just remember, this experience is all about you and celebrating you! I will guide you every step of the way through posing, lighting, subtle cues, posing you if you're okay with it, and creating a comfortable and safe atmosphere so you can simply relax, have fun, and enjoy your time with me in The Goddess Lounge!
Get a Good Nights Sleep & Arrive Ready to go!
Rest is a huge key factor here. When you are well rested, you just feel good! And when you feel good, you look good. Your energy is different and more radiant. Try to get a restful nights sleep the night before and eat a light meal before your session to have energy. Bring a water and snack with you! And this avoid wearing any tight clothing before your session to prevent marks on your skin.
